The problem

HR shouldn't feel like a maze.

Most growing businesses carry HR, payroll and compliance across spreadsheets, portals, consultants and memory. The work recurs, the deadlines don't move, and the rules keep changing.

Live · India Standard Time

Your next statutory deadline

Your states

EPF, ESIC, TDS, wages, bonus and POSH dates apply everywhere in India. Add your states to include their Professional Tax and Labour Welfare Fund dates.

General reference, not legal advice. If a due date falls on a holiday, file on the previous working day unless an extension is notified.

Where it slips
  • 01

    Deadlines on every calendar

PF, ESI, PT and LWF each run on their own schedule, in every state you operate.

  • 02

    Payroll that must reconcile

Salary structures, LOP, arrears and deductions have to tie out, every month.

  • 03

    Rules that keep shifting

Circulars, rate revisions and the Labour Codes land with little warning.

  • 04

    Paperwork that goes stale

Offer letters, records and registrations pile up and fall out of date.

  • 05

    Contract labour duties

Contractors bring their own registers, returns and principal-employer obligations.

  • 06

    Notices out of nowhere

One missed filing can turn into inspections, queries and penalties.

  • 07

    Manual re-keying

Copying data between systems is slow and quietly error-prone.

  • 08

    No single picture

The full view lives in too many places to see at once.

HR Terrain maps the whole landscape: operations, payroll and compliance under one framework.

Compliance

Compliance is more than filing on time.

Filing is the visible part. Good compliance is the system underneath: the one that holds up when a notice arrives or an auditor asks for three years of records.

How a filing holds up
  1. Correct inputs and wage computation
  2. Filed within the statutory window
  3. Challan and acknowledgement archived
  4. Registers and returns kept current
  5. Reviewed and owned, every cycle

Applicability checker

Which labour laws apply to your business?

Answer four questions. See what applies today, what to double-check, and what starts as you grow, under the Labour Codes in force since 21 November 2025.

Where you have staff

Central labour codes apply everywhere. Each state you add brings in its Professional Tax and Labour Welfare Fund.

Type of establishment

Everyone on your rolls in the state. EPF, ESIC and POSH also count contract workers.

Anyone earning ₹25,000 or less a month (Basic & DA)? EPF is compulsory for everyone up to ₹25,000

Anyone earning ₹21,000 or less a month (Basic & DA)? ESIC and bonus cover everyone up to ₹21,000. They still get EPF too.

Calculators

Run the numbers before an inspector does.

What one employee really costs under the Labour Codes, and what a late PF or ESIC payment adds up to. Change any figure and the maths updates as you type.

40%

The share of gross paid as Basic and Dearness Allowance. The rest is HRA and other allowances.

PF worked out on
Employee takes home₹0a month, before income tax
It costs you₹0a month

An estimate, not legal advice. Wages follow the Code on Wages: Basic + DA, plus any allowances above half of pay. EPF 12% + 12% (admin and EDLI about 1% more), mandatory up to ₹25,000 at 20+ employees; ESIC 0.75% + 3.25% up to ₹21,000 at 10+; gratuity 15 days' wages a year at 10+; bonus at least 8.33% (worked out on ₹7,000 or the minimum wage, whichever is higher) at 20+, for wages up to ₹21,000. February PT can be higher, LWF is extra where it applies, and income tax is not included.
